Tampa Bay Laptops was founded in December 2002 by Stanley Kalbarczyk, who worked as an engineer at Hewlett-Packard/Compaq and Dell. He identified and addressed the need of retailers, computer repair businesses, and corporations to have an economical, quick service to perform component-level repairs on laptop and notebook motherboards.
The firm moved to its present location in 2006 in order to accommodate continuing growth. It now occupies a spacious 3,000 office and warehouse space in a small strip center on Waters Avenue, just west of Dale Mabry Highway. There is plenty of room for expansion within the existing space. The excellent visibility of the location produces some walk-in customers, although the firm’s primary focus is serving major accounts throughout the United States and in other parts of the Americas.
Tampa Bay Laptops using two primary methods of marketing:
(1) A telemarketer calls businesses nationwide.
(2) The firm posts its repair services as Buy It Now items on EBay.
The company’s policy is that customers must pay immediately by credit card or COD, so there are very few account receivable.
